Welcome to Penny Lane Farms
Chris and Joanne Junge of Napoleon, Ohio, started Penny Lane Farms in 2009, but their love of draft horses began during childhood. Chris grew up helping his grandfather on the family farm, which once comprised a few working Belgian horses. Some of his earliest memories are family wagon rides around the farm and going to Grable, Indiana, to participate in their annual parade with his grandfather’s prized team. The highlight of the year was taking the horses to the Henry County Fair for the week, where they were displayed and shown in a variety of classes. They shared their love for draft horses through Chris’s childhood, and as Chris got older, he started taking on more of the show preparation tasks and frequent driving at home, eventually taking the lead on exhibiting the horses.
In the fall of 2009, Chris and Joanne purchased their first team of Percheron mares with the intention of following their love of draft horses and sharing them with others through parades and displaying them at local fairs. Their team of mares eventually grew to three, with a newborn colt raised on the farm. The new colt stayed on the farm and eventually was paired up with a half-brother to create the young team of geldings Penny Lane Farms now enjoys exhibiting. Chris enjoys taking the young team to parades and other various events such as weddings, funerals, and private family rides. When not showing off, they stay in shape by working on the farm raking hay, hauling manure, or taking a stroll around the neighborhood with the Junge family.
